I just downloaded the beta for swype texting on the Droid. Aaamazing. I dont even open the keyboard anymore, I am faster with the swype. And its not close. I highly recommend everyone try it out before you buy your next phone. _________________ --------clw-------- |

what no link? And no... I don't need a "let me google that for you." Also, is Droid the way to go? _________________ http://www.awbvious.com |

Nope. Not stoked on the Droid itself. But Android is the way to go.
And how do you want me to link to a text input method for a cell phone? _________________ --------clw-------- |

| Is it like the gesture-like input method that used to be on the palm / handspring? |

I tried out swype for two weeks with the HTC HD2...amazing piece of hardware and swype was very fun for the first week.
However, eventually it became frustrating with simple typos on small words. Then having to go back and highlight the word and correct it.
I did a comparison test of typing with swype vs. my blackberry bold and speed was roughly the same IF I had no swype typos. Because of the typos it makes me about 50% as efficient.
It's cool technology and makes texting fun, but for work e-mails it was frustrating. I returned the HD2 and went back to my bold 9700. _________________ I spike loonerisms. |

Yes, but valdar, how much of your making typos was do to the reliance on the blackberry way of typing? If one were to have no experience using a blackberry or swype, would one experience as disproportional amount of typos? _________________ http://www.awbvious.com |

I used swype constantly for almost two weeks...I would think by that time any reliance would be gone.
Also, the style of swype is so different from any typing method that is it's like starting from scratch.
It's not a jump like qwerty to dvorak, it's more like writing with a pencil and then changing to typing with a keyboard, totally different methods. _________________ I spike loonerisms. |

There are also different technologies that produce swype-style input. Swype is best at first, but others are better for word prediction and correcting typos. Long story short, you can probably type faster using a blackberry, but it takes more work. And you cant do it one handed while driving. _________________ --------clw-------- |
